Finning UK and Ireland has cut its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 32 per cent, its latest sustainability report has confirmed.
Finning is committed to its goal to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 40% by 2027 compared to the 2017 baseline. They plan to achieve this target by increasing the use of renewable and carbon-free energy, optimizing facility technology, increasing energy efficiency, and making fleet improvements.
In the UK and Ireland, the latest carbon emission reductions were achieved partly by the proactive sourcing of renewable energy with 85% of the company’s electricity coming from renewable sources last year. Looking ahead, Finning will aim to ultimately rely on alternative energy sources to provide 100% of their power usage.
The recently released sustainability report for 2023 also demonstrated the growing success of the company’s rebuild programme, with 15,694 parts being remanufactured. This helps to reduce waste, energy, and the use of raw materials – supporting both the sustainability targets of Finning and their customers.
Today, the new generation of Cat machines is equipped with innovative technology for operators to reduce fuel usage and monitor their efficiency. In addition, Finning provides a range of digital services to help plant operators and fleet managers further reduce costs and cut emissions at the same time through lower fuel consumption.
Finning has also made positive changes to its overall waste management performance and now recycles 95% of non-hazardous and 100 per cent of its hazardous waste material.
